How to use flash in portrait photography

Flash photography is essential for portrait photography and the purpose of flash photography is to fill up the shadow areas and lighten the skin tones.

If you want to capture an awesome portrait, then you have to use a flash because without using flash, the flash will make the person’s face appear too dark.

The best way to capture amazing portraits with flash is to use a tripod to hold the camera, set the aperture to its widest setting (f/2.8), and set the ISO to the highest (200).

You can also add a little more light by shooting the subject’s face in manual mode. To avoid using too much light on your subject’s face, adjust the shutter speed until you have an exposure time of about 1/60.

When you want to capture a photo of your subject, whether it is a child, an elderly person, or a couple, be sure to use a shutter release cable.

By doing so, you will avoid shaking the camera while the subject’s face is still in focus. If you do not use a shutter release cable, you may end up taking blurry photos.

If you are worried about the direction of the light falling on the subject’s face, you can place the flash on the ceiling or another part of the room.

However, be sure to place the flash close enough to the subject’s face to give the person’s face the needed light.
